I can’t say how much I’ve enjoyed this lecture by Barry Schwartz, I’ve watched it a few times and am constantly amazed by his words. Barry goes on about how if you have a bunch of choices then you’ll expect to chose the best one. Once you do chose the "best one," you’re only going to be let when it doesn’t meet your expectation. You’re left with the feeling that if you had so many choices why couldn’t you have picked a better one. One of his quotes that stick in my mind is "Everything was better, back when everything was worse." Sadly, maybe this is why Apple fans are such die hards!
Anyways, he has a book that I want to order, The Paradox of Choice: Why More Is Less, and of course knowing my attitude towards book it will go right on my to read pile. If you like this video, check out some more over at TED.com.
